The thermopile is used for non-contact temperature
detection, and/or fast temperature response, and/or wide temperature range monitoring systems. It used to be used
in industries. However, more and more companies, such as Philips, Sanyo, Toshiba, Krups, Braun, etc., has been
using this IR temperature sensors in house hood products, such as tympanic (ear) thermometers, toasters,
microwave ovens, hair dryers, kitchen ranges, steamers, Electric B.B.Q. oven, etc.
Our thermopiles consist of a stack of more than 150 tiny layers of Infrared
materials and a balancing thermister (thermo-resistor), totally in one chip and
packaged in a To-5 like package with an IR filtering lens above and four pins
out as shown in the picture. When detecting the temperature of an object, you
do not need to contact it, but just by aiming the thermopile to the object, and
the thermopile will produce a little electric voltage, just like a little battery, which
can be transfer to that temperature’s readout.
The temperature range of detection can be from -100°C to 1,000°C, depending
on the different models. The response time can even be shorter than just a click.
In industries, these sensors have been widely used in furnaces, automobiles,
heat pipes and many industries' heat monitors and controls. The following spec
is just for -20°C ~ +100°C model. For temperature range other than this, please contact us. (sales-cs@hexagold.com)
